In James Rolfe’s long-running series Board James, the internet star plays the 1986 Milton Bradley action game– Fireball Island in the fifth episode. In the video, James has nothing but praise for all the intricate detail that went into creating the board game “that’s anything but boring.”
The game mechanics in Fireball Island are moderately complex, requiring both skill and luck to win. The object of the game is to escape the island with the jewel, which must first be stolen from the top of the mountain on which Vul-Kar sits. There is only one jewel, so once a player grabs it he/she becomes the target of the others. The jewel may change hands many times during the course of a game.
As Board James notes, this game is extremely difficult to find complete, so it has become a big collector’s item among table top gamers and collectors. Some value the board game at around $750. So if you are able to find this at a thrift store or garage sale, make sure you pick it up and give it a play.
