GAME/SHOW: Do Gamers Need Anita Sarkeesian’s Feminism?

Do gamers need Anita Sarkeesian’s feminism? The people at PBS-funded webseries, GAME/SHOW discusses this topic in their latest episode.

Sexism in game culture is back in the spotlight. As seen in the comment section of Carolyn Petit’s recent review of GTA 5 and, of course, the hate spewed toward Anita Sarkeesian’s Feminist Frequency, there is a strong undercurrent of anti-woman sentiment that has surfaced in the gamer community. Why? Because there are those who believe that women can never be “true gamers.” But there are those that are fighting back.

In August of 2013, PBS kicked off a brand new weekly web series called GAME/SHOW, hosted by gamer and reporter Jamin Warren. The show provides relevant commentary on the current state of the video game industry in the same style as other PBS-funded web series such as Idea Channel.

You can follow GAME/SHOW on Twitter at @pbsgameshow or on Facebook. If you have suggestions, ideas or feedback about the program, send them to [email protected].
