Pixels is an upcoming 2015 American 3D live-action/computer-animated comedy film produced by Columbia Pictures, 1492 Pictures and Happy Madison Productions. The film is directed by Chris Columbus from a screenplay written by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling and a screen story penned by Tim Herlihy.

Pixels is based on Patrick Jean’s 2010 Internet short film of the same name. The short film is two minutes long and shows planet Earth being invaded by classic arcade characters until its eventually turned into one giant pixel.

The plot centers around aliens, who misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war. They attack the Earth using the games as models for their various assaults. The film will have an all-star cast including: Adam Sandler (who founded Happy Madison Productions), Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monaghan, Brian Cox, Ashley Benson and Jane Krakowski.

Characters from classic arcade games such as Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Frogger, and Donkey Kong, among several others, have been licensed for use in the film. The trailer is set to release alongside The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which comes out this weekend. Here are the three other newly-released posters:
