In order to have a real chance at finding a complete NES collection within five years, I occasionally visit a nearby retro game store to spend some of my surplus retro game budget on a handful of NES games. This time, I picked up these three NES games for $15 total.
I remember playing Spy Hunter on my old Atari 2600. It’s ported from the same game, so I assume that it’s very similar. I also played a port on Midway’s Greatest Arcade Hits: Volume 1 for the N64, But I’m excited to pop it in again and play it, for the first time on the NES.
Trojan is a game I have seen at a lot of game stores, but I had never really heard anything about. But it has that classic Capcom design, so that’s certainly a good sign. Like Spy Hunter, this game is also a port from an arcade game.
I am most excited to find The Simpsons Bart Meets Radioactive Man. This game features Bart Simpson on a comic book quest to rescue his kidnapped idol, superhero Radioactive Man. From my experience, the game is playable, but the controls make me want to give up after just a few minutes. It is really cool to hear the Simpsons theme on an NES console though.
The Simpsons Bart Meets Radioactive Man is the rarest of the three Simpsons game on the NES and the most expensive. Now that I have two of them, I’ll be sure to be on the look out for the final in the series– The Simpsons: Bart vs the World.
This brings my NES collection up to 106, which means that I’m going at the pace that I had planned. For the rest of the entries of NES Quest, check them out right here on Retro Chronicle.
