Nintendo files a trademark for Pokemon Delta Emerald

2049

Nintendo filed a trademark for Pokemon Delta Emerald in Japan, which strongly suggests a 3DS remake of the 2005 classic.

The news came three weeks after Nintendo announced the November release of the 3DS remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, entitled Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. This continues Nintendo’s trend of alternating between new canon Pokemon installments and remakes of classics.

Pokemon Emerald took place in the Hoenn region, located some distance from the Kanto and Johto regions featured in previous games.  Pokémon Emerald has received generally positive reception. It has an average score of 76 and 76.65% on Metacritic and Game Rankings respectively.

Man fans were disappointed that the last two sets of remakes did not include remakes for their third installments. Pokemon Firered and Leafgreen were remakes of Pokemon Red and Green, but a remake of Pokemon Yellow was never developed. Similarly, Pokemon SoulSilver and HeartGold were remakes of Silver and Gold, but a remake for Crystal was never made.

While a trademark doesn’t necessarily guarantee a release, a 2015 release for Pokemon Delta Emerald is exciting news for gamers.
